Titre: Prise du François-Louis dans la Manche en 1762
Résumé : Au début du mois de septembre 1762, un bâtiment français, le François-Louis, quitte Saint-Malo avec des renforts destinés à Terre-Neuve. Le bâtiment se fait capturer dans la Manche. Voici les folios 34 à 42 (du dossier "François-Louis") qui donnent des extraits des interrogatoires de trois officiers.

[Interrogatoire de Jacques de Blondela, âgé de 48 ans, le 6 octobre 1762 à Portsmouth, en présence de John Greenway, Thomas Binstead, John Tames, Richard Varlo, et James Bucknall]

1 ...he was born and has always lived when at home at St.Malo...
2 ...he was present at the time of seizing... he had a commission as Lieutenant de Fregate from the French King...
3 ... the ship... were taken ...on the twenty first day of september ... in the latitude of about 48.30, that she was brought into the port of Portsmouth... made a little resistance when she was taken and was taken by ... the Dragon commanded by the honourable Augustus Hervey.
4 ... he was master or commander of the ship...
5 ... the ... ship is of the burthen of about  332 tons, that the number of mariners (officers included) was 63 besides 93 officers soldiers and passengers which ships company were all frenchmen and shipped by Mons. Grandclos Meslé (the son) at St.Malo ...
6 ... neither he nor any of the officers or mariners ... had any part share or interest ... (except private adventures) ... she was built at Bayonne as he has heard.
7 ... the name of the ... ship ... is Le François-Louis, that before that time she was called he believes The Queen of England ... she was bound ... from St.Malo to St.Johns in Newfoundland ... with ... troops and a cargo of military stores and provisions ...
8 ... cargo was all put on board in the month of august last.

16 ... the papers and writings which he so delivered to the captors when he was taken were the same which he had on board when he sailed from St.Malo aforesaid except a Quantity of letters & the charterparty which he threw overboard before he was taken in presence of one of his officers and that none others were afterwards burnt torn thrown overboard destroyed or concealed.
